Wonderful Wonderful House and location!
Our four generation family with ages from 8 months to 86 years enjoyed a wonderful holiday in Chy an Nans in July/Aug 2011. Words can't really describe the house; its like walking into a designer home. The lounge/kitchen/dining area are fabulous.
The house and its location made the holiday really special. We had plenty of room to spread out with the tv area, dining area, balcony and games room. We loved the open aspect and big windows. All the bedrooms were a great size, the family room with its own kitchen area was huge.
The house was very clean and the owner text to check if we needed anything. Open areas downstairs, underneath the balcony, were ideal for drying wetsuits and storing surf/body boards. The outside shower is a great facility when returning from the beach.
The beach is one of the best in the area, family friendly with surf for the older children and adults and wide expanses of soft, white sand for the younger children. There is a stream that runs onto the beach giving a lovely area for smaller children to safely paddle and play.
Our mum and dad (79 and 86) loved the bus stop at the end of the lane and enjoyed 'doing their own thing' with day trips into Newquay and out to Padstow, St Ives etc. We have had six 'big house' holidays as a family and this rates in the top two.
Practical notes: we parked three cars okay. The 'key box' was great, we could all go out knowing that the first ones back could get in. The Wi FI worked well, and fast. There was constant hot water; the main shower was awsome!!
The house has no rear garden only a gravel area at the front surrounded by palms.
Porth is a small fairly quiet area with a camp site running off up the valley (good laundrette for drying clothes) there is one pub, one restaurant, one cafe (great quality food) and a gift shop near the beach. The beach has a life guard and you can park on the beach on the far side.
There is a great pub in the village that has four lanes of bowling and several snooker tables and served good food.
Newquay is a 20 min walk along the coast path or a 3-5 min bus ride or drive. ASDA, Sainsbury, ALDI and Tesco Metro are in Newquay with a large Morrisons and Lidl on the ring road outside town (7 - 10 min drive).
We all loved it and will definitly book again. Pefect for a family holiday with the night life of Newquay a mile up the road if you want it.
